Toy Organization

Good morning (a little late?); sorry about the delay in posting today. Having one of those Mommy-really-needs-a-shower days, Holly is sick and Hazel is fussy and wants to be held 24/7...

The wrap Leila gave me is really coming in handy this morning! Most of the house looks like poop today but since Holly is not in a play mood I can work on the playroom a bit with Hazel in tow (most of the time Holly wants to play with every toy I drag out and this does not work!). So after Christmas the playroom got neglected and for weeks it looked a little like this:
Yikes!! So after a little purging and re-organizing (my husband put some shelves up for board games and stuff that the kids need us to play with them); the playroom looks like this:
Here's the games shelf, with a shelf below to store "Lego creations" Henry does not want his sister to touch...

And here is the Expedit! I use Rubbermaid "Clever Store" containers. Their transparency allows the kids to see exactly what is inside them, and their flat walls allow maximum storage. They fit perfectly within the shelves too...
I organized the top two shelves for Henry, and the bottom for Holly so she could reach...

Here are Henry's shelves. From Left to right, top shelf: sticker/coloring/Lego books, craft supplies, Bakugan and Pokemon, Lego guys and motorized toys. Bottom shelf: Transformers, Bionicles, Lego and "Men/superheros"...

Holly's shelves have less of a system since she's only two. From left to right, top: Playmobil, house, barn, Thomas. And the bottom: animals/Zhu-Zhus, various toys (ie. my little ponys), playdoh and Duplo.

And that is how I organize the playroom for two kids with very different toys! So much better. How do you deal with toys?
