Which do you prefer?

Do you ever wish you could start over? Approach your house with a completely different style? I do. I find myself attracted to two looks lately; a clean, shiny minimalist look where everyday objects are hidden, and an "organized chaos" look; warm interiors where loved objects are on display:

I love the idea of a book and object filled home, but it has been something I can't live with lately. The urge to thin out my collection has been too great; In fact, I have been waiting to have a garage sale for some time (and I have not been thrifting for weeks). I'm afraid; can I strike a balance or is my style changing? Do you rotate between these two looks as well?
